From Green Buildings to Sustainable Communities
Free Public Event
Thomas Mueller will present an overview of new directions in green building and community development in Canada and abroad. Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC)
is now offering a full set of LEED tools and is delivering GREEN UP: a national building performance benchmarking program to support all sectors of the industry to go green. LEED for Neighbourhood Development is a new tool that will come to Canada later in 2010 and will allow CaGBC to certify entire new developments and larger infill projects to green building, smart growth, sustainable infrastructure and new urbanist principles. The session will address the shift from green buildings to integrated community developments to realize the full benefits of sustainable design but also the challenges that impede progress in this area.
